Drive in Racking
Drive-in rack is designed for the warehouse requiring high density storage but not selectivity.
It can accommodate a large number of pallets for each stock location and operated on LIFO Method which turns out that the pallet is only available on one side, it’s widely used for the storage of homogenous products with long shelf life.
What is Drive in Racking?
Drive in Racking systems are widely operated on a LIFO basis in modern warehouse management. these systems are designed for those warehouses with high density storage deamand but requre not high selectivity.
Industries such as food and beverage, cold storage, and manufacturing commonly use drive-in racking systems due to their ability to store bulk quantities of similar items efficiently.
Advantages
- High-Density Storage: Reducing aisles quantity and use full depth and height as possible
- Cost Savings: Durable performance, low maintenance requirements contributes to long-term cost saving.
- Scalability: The modular design of drive-in racking systems allows for easy amendment of layout.
Disadvantages
- Limited Access: May not be the best choice for products entailing individual access.
- Potential for Damage: The close proximity of pallets and the need for precise handling can increase the risk of damage to the racking system and the stored products.
